Gender: Male
Johan is the self-styled Lord of Avernus, formerly an outlying county formerly of the holy empire. A powerful mage, not much is known about him, other than the fact that he was formerly of the holy order, and that he is of humble birth. His land is out of the way, and not easily accessed, and he has used this advantage to carve out a livable land for his servants.
Backstory-
Men and demons have been dire enemies since time immemorial, when God supposedly cast certain angels from heaven for refusing to bow down to men.
Since that time, man and demon have fought numerous wars, with the results always being the same. Mankind perservered, demons were beaten back, and blessed institutions would instate righteous rule, until war was declared again.
What was not so obvious though, is just -how- these wars were started in the first place. Obviously, demonkind, while prolific and powerful, was a force to be reckoned with. But this isn't the issue. Mankind had their own, equal advantages that made any attack a losing proposition.
Certain heretical scholars have recently come up with a new hypothesis to explain the nature of the early successes that demonkind's attacks seem to have: Wicked men.
Yes, wicked men or women, dissatisfied with the rule of the reigning religious institutions might use their own unique abilities to aid demonkind, gaining an advantage over the reigning institution, and hope to conquer the world nd eliminate competition in the ensuing conflict, thus causing the cyclic nature of history in the mortal world.
In this day and age, these speculations have been proven correct, as it was the very men who ran the church who invited demonkind into the world, eager to use the opportunity to eliminate rivals. Their plans went awry, and a terrible, bloody war ensued, with humanity being brought to the brink of annihalation.
However, it was not demonkind who emerged the victors of this conflict, for the tides of this war changed with the appearance of men who, while not allied with demonkind, were not righteous either, and carved out a territory for themselves during the ensuing war.
The cycle of history has been broken. It is a new age, where man coexists with bestial demons, roving the lands, and only certain powerful people can live safely.
